1. cold-blooded 冷血的;冷酷的
例1:The real world is so different from what it is in my imagination. But it is surely a real world, a cold-blooded world。
這個(gè)真實(shí)的世界與我所想的是那么的不同,但它的確是一個(gè)真真實(shí)實(shí)的世界,一個(gè)冷漠的世界。
例2:Cold-blooded people act in cruel ways. They may do brutal things to others, and not by accident.
冷血的人行事殘酷,他們可能對(duì)其他人做出非常殘暴的事情,而且并非出自偶然。
2. to get cold feet 臨陣退縮
例1:She was to get married last month but she got cold feet。
她本應(yīng)該上個(gè)月結(jié)婚的,但她又打了退堂鼓。
例2:You are likely to get cold feet about being president when you understand the situation.

例1:Henry got the cold shoulder when he asked to have a date with Mary。

例2:You may give a cold shoulder to a friend who has not kept a promise he made to you. Or, to someone who has lied about you to others.

4. cold fish 冷酷無情的人
例1:He is a cold fish, no one wants to make friends with him。

例2:Several popular songs in recent years were about cold-hearted men or cold-hearted women who, without feeling, broke the hearts of their lovers.

5. cold-hearted 無情的;冷淡的
例:She is a cold-hearted person who does not really care about your situation。
她是個(gè)冷心腸的人,對(duì)你的處境并不是真的關(guān)心。

例1:Every time I see you, you leave me out in the cold。
每次我見到你,你都不理我。
例2:A person might say that everybody but him got a pay raise, that he was left out in the cold.

8. cold turkey 生硬的、坦率的、毫無修飾的
例:Stalin didn't like certain cold-turkey facts Kennan reported about Russia.
